About the DJF
The Darius Jones Foundation (DJF) has always focused on our youth and community members. We provide youth heart screenings, CPR training, and cardiac education. We strive to make sure that our youth and community members have the best chance at success to then become a healthy successful community unit.
CPR training is also one of our primary goals; providing CPR training to these students and community members will also assist in the cardiac chain of survival.

Cardiac Disease remains the number two cause of death for residents of Contra Costa County.

Across the nation, only 38% of cardiac arrest victims receive bystander CPR.

In Contra Costa County the rate is 40%.

Unfortunately for east Contra Costa County, the rate is lower, with less than 20% in some areas.

In communities with successful CPR programs and training, bystander CPR rates are as high as 70%, leading to an increase in the likelihood of survival by more than 50%.

Number of DJF educational flyers distributed providing education on cardiac arrest in young athletes Adults and Seniors.
The community will receive the supplies they need to complete the funded year. Being prepared for a Cardiac Arrest Emergency will increase confidence and set the community members up for a higher probability of success. Being trained will provide decrease in the stress and burden on family members. This will have a brief impact on happiness and quality of life. Additionally, providing CPR education and training to the students will meet the requirements of AB 1719 preparing them early to meet their graduation requirements.
In Honor of Darius Jones
Darius Jones, truly a gift from God, was born on May 18, 1994 and his love for basketball began at the young age of 6 when he attended a basketball game at De La Salle High School in Concord. From that moment on, Darius let it be known to his mother, Beverly Monique Bradley, what his future plans and goals were to be. Darius boldly stated, with conviction to his mother, that I am going to attend and play basketball at De La Salle High School, I am going to college and I will obtain my Law Degree. From that point on, Darius’ vision was made into reality, he excelled accordingly academically, socially and athletically. He was slated, identified and gifted to do great things.
On October 11, 2009, we lost Darius to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. The death of Darius almost broke his mother, Beverly Monique Bradley. Just knowing that his physical presence would no longer be here on earth was over whelming. With that being said, God created a new plan for Darius’ life which is to spread the love, grace and compassion that Darius had to save the lives of others. This formed and defined the vision and mission of the Darius Jones Foundation and Darius’ legacy.
To be given a gift, Darius, that’s greater than yourself, knowing that the gift has a better purpose than yourself comes truly from God.

Beverly Monique Bradley
Late Founder and CEO
On October 11, 2009, Beverly Monique Bradley joined a club that no parent ever wishes to join — parents who have experienced the loss of a child. After losing her son, Darius Jones, Beverly founded the Darius Jones Foundation and dedicated her life to educating and empowering communities, parents, and youth through CPR and AED awareness, education, and advocacy. Beverly brought more than 20 years of experience serving Contra Costa County Health Services across multiple departments, including Public Health AIDS, Purchasing, and Behavioral Health, where she utilized her administrative and accounting expertise in support of the community. She was also the founder of the Darius Jones Foundation Basketball League and spent more than a decade mentoring and supporting youth through basketball and community engagement. Known for her compassion, warmth, humor, and love for the beach, Beverly cherished time spent with friends, young adults, and the community she cared so deeply about. Though she passed away on January 30, 2025, reunited now with her beloved son, Darius, her vision and unwavering commitment continue to inspire and guide the mission of the Darius Jones Foundation today.

Christye McQueen
Chief Executive Officer
Christye McQueen serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Darius Jones Foundation, continuing the organization’s mission of expanding awareness, education, and access to lifesaving CPR and AED resources within the community. Following the passing of founder and former CEO Beverly Monique Bradley, Christye stepped into leadership with a commitment to honoring the foundation’s vision while guiding its continued growth and community impact. Her focus is centered on strengthening outreach efforts, fostering meaningful partnerships, and advancing initiatives that empower and protect communities through preparedness and education. Christye McQueen was raised on a farm in rural Alabama until she and her family relocated to Hayward, California in her early teens. She has a Bachelor's in Business and in Health Information Management. She worked as a health emergency coordinator for Contra Costa County until she became disabled due to an injury in 2018. Christye is interested in elevating the community, focusing on youth so they can visualize a productive future.
